BETTA999 Posted March 6, 2022 Share Posted March 6, 2022 i have seen some suspicious activity with my juv. bettas it appears to be that the are pooping gravel so one night before going to sleep i caugth them in the act and saw how the started gulping up pellet until they stayed in the bottom of the tank like an anchor and in the day as they started to get active they would poop the gravel slowly anyone else whos had the same experience🤨 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Biotope Biologist Posted March 11, 2022 Share Posted March 11, 2022 Oh that’s very interesting, I know some fish species do this but they usually have a gizzard for doing this. It aids in digestion and also if the rock or grit they swallow has minerals they can absorb that as well during digestion. Never heard a betta doing this nor having gizzards.
