Patrick_G
Months ago I bought a used tank and all the related equipment. It’s an Aquatop rimless L:60cm x W:30cm x H: 45cm Same height as a 29 gal but not as long. I have a few tanks in the to do queue but I figure I should start planning this one too. Most of my money and effort is going into the high tech tank I’m working on so this one should be cheap, cheerful, and low maintenance! Streetwise
I would love to help you with an organic soil tank! 1
eatyourpeas
Swaying vals, soil as @Streetwise suggested, angels, look at @Daniel's vintage inspired tank. 🙂
Patrick_G
Deciding where to put it is becoming difficult. My house has lots of windows and odd angles so there’s not lots of wall space. I hate for it to be just sitting in the garage since it’s a nice tank. What if it just becomes a breeding tank sitting under my 75 gal? I’ve been really wanting German blue rams. Would I be asking for trouble if I try and use a tank with these dimensions?

The height may give you challenges when trying to extract the fry, but I am no expert when it comes to breeding. I just know trying to catch fish in my tall tank is always more difficult than I estimate.
Beardedbillygoat1975
I think you could create a fry trap and get the GBRs out. I think it’s somewhat wasted having a 60 p showpiece tank under your 75 but then again you’ve got those architectural issues to deal with. I just think rimless tanks you’d want it to be up and visible. Then again, the more forgotten it is the more likely your GBRs will be to breed!
Patrick_G
It really should be up and visible in the long run and a cheap 20 long would be better for GBRs. It’s a fun to think about. It might even make a nice paludarium.
PineSong
That tank is a beaut! I am guessing you don't want a tank full of algae-consuming livebearers, and that's why you want to avoid the windows? I have tanks in east/southeast facing windows and have no more algae than my kitchen tank, but all my fish are algae nibblers I guess. On the up side, it would be cheap (or you could make it not so cheap if you wanted, by ordering fancy fancy guppies from Europe) and cheerful and easy to maintain. On the down side, not the same visual impact as larger fish, though you could get big mollies and swords and maybe split the difference.
