Kathy F
The sponge filter lift tube is too tall for my 5-gallon frameless tank is there a way to cut the uplift tube without breaking it? I find if the tank water level drops even a little bit the tube sticks out of the water.
Andy's Fish Den
I would imagine it could be cut with a hack saw or using a dremel tool. You could also just take the uplift tube off, I run most of mine that way. 1

I lost a lift tube but the filter seems to still work so I haven’t bothered getting a new one.
jwcarlson
I second the hack saw, utility knife might also work. If you go the utility knife route it might help to run it under hot water for a bit to soften it up. A steak knife would probably do it as well, honestly. Anything serrated should be able to handle it. If you feel like spending a while you could probably sand it down. Otherwise just leave it off 🙂
