Removing the hood of Topfin 36G Bowfront Rimless Aquarium

I have a plastic lid on my Topfin BF 36G aquarium that I wanted to change with a glass hinge cover. The rim is at the bottom of the aquarium. Will it affect the structural stability of the aquarium? 

Has anyone done this?

Removing the rim will hurt the structual stabilty. People do remove the rims off of tanks occasionally, but i wouldn't recommend it.

Thank you for your answer but It is not the rim I am removing, it's the lid. the tank is rimless. Anyone with rimless bowfront and have tried not using the lid should know what I am talking about.

If I remember the tank you are taking about, I think it came with a cheap plastic lid that just sits on top of the tank. It doesn't offer any support or framework.

Thank you. That's what I thought too. But just want to make sure coz I'm getting different answers from other groups that don't even know what tank I'm talking about.

yeah people 86 those lids all the time. Just make sure you get some frameless aquarium lid supports in the right size to support a glass cover.
