SunBearQ
Hi there, I am replacing my 55 gal glass tank (36”x15”x24”) with a 50 gal acrylic one (36”x15”x20”). The current stand has a hole in the middle since it was made to support a glass tank along its perimeter. It does not have a cross beam in the middle. I have attached photos of the stand to this post. My question is if I got a sheet of plywood to cover the top of the stand would it provide enough support for the base of the acrylic aquarium? If yes, would 1/2” or 3/4” Sande Plywood be sufficient? I would water seal it and add a sheet of foam insulation board on top it as well. Any suggestions/tips would be appreciated. StevesFishTanks
I think the plywood options you described would work fine. Thicker would be better 1/2" is prob the thinnest I would use.
lefty o
im no engineer, nor did i sleep at a holiday inn last night, but id think a piece of 3/4" plywood should adequately support the tanks bottom.
