Kurt Brutting
I have heard that Crypt Spiralis will kill Vallisneria when it’s in the same aquarium together. Does anyone know this to be true? I got some Crypt Spiralis from my LFS, but then I read that and now I’m worried I don’t want to hurt my Vallisneria.
Fish Folk
The term you’re referring to is “allelopathy.” It is a highly debated concept. Some aquarists insist that plants only _compete_ for nutrient intake. But others argue that some plants _release_ chemicals that damage certain others. I’m curious… but not so curious to obsess. Here’s a nerm hole if you want to chase this down… Edited February 18, 2022 by Fish Folk
anewbie
I have frequently mixed plants which others claim are problematic to mix without issues. The only time i've had issues is when plants get crowded to the extent the roots of one plants clamp down on the rhizome of another plant. That has caused issues.
