Cinnebuns
Any ideas for keeping Java moss together? It comes apart and goes all over the tank in tiny pieces. I think I'm doing it wrong. I want to grow more of it but I have less than when I started!
ChrisD
While you can tie small clumps down to, for example, a rock, Java moss tends to have a life of its own as it grows out. I think you kind of have to let it live on its own terms.
Jennifer V
I've never had much luck growing Java moss but I have with Christmas moss and I expect it's much the same. I have some tied down to a rock and regularly trim it to try to keep it in some kind of shape. It doesn't prevent it from scattering a few pieces but it's manageable. Although I do agree with @ChrisD mosses are kind of their own monster. They make the rules.
H.K.Luterman
Java moss will definitely do what it wants - I have it growing up the back glass panel in one of my tanks, even after I thought I had removed it all. Your best bet is to do as others suggested, tie it to a rock and keep it trimmed. And collect all those trimmings, because they will stick to SOMETHING and go where they want, lol. I personally enjoy just letting it grow in a clump in a back corner.
Cinnebuns
I have it tied down on a small rock now but it's still flaking off. It's collecting all over the intake of my filters. I'm slightly considering just getting rid of it. Ugh. I had plans for it too!
