SunniSki
What are some non-aggressive community fish that eat those tiny brown snails that ride in on plants? I have an assassin snail, mystery snail and shrimp so I’m looking for something that won’t pick on these as well. The only other bottom dwellers I have are a bristle nose pleco and Cory Doras. Help! I am very much a rookie but... I found this video very helpful when I was dealing with too many nuisance snails in my tank. They came in on a plant and I was killing them by the dozen. Between a Dennerle Snail Catcher and some serious gravel vacuuming, I was able to get the snail situation under control. Now I only see one or two in the tank at any given time.
Jennifer V
They are likely bladder snails and are actually a really great cleanup crew for the tank. Their population is directly related to the amount of food in the tank, so try reducing feeding and remove any dead or decaying plant matter from the tank if the population is getting to a place you're uncomfortable with. You can reach out to local fish clubs and groups to get rid of any unwanted snails. Lots of people, like me, are always looking for snails to feed to their fish. 🐡
