Crystal_Marie
Hi all, I tried searching the forum but couldn’t find anything yet. I’m hoping to start setting up a 29 gallon planted community tank. I’ll be moving over my female betta, nerite snail, and shrimp. I’ll also be adding some schooling nano fishies and possibly some bottom dwelling fishies too. My question is: Is a medium sponge filter with an air stone run on the usb nano air pump enough? I plan to also have a small sponge filter with an air stone and nano pump running but wanted those only as an emergency cycled filter for a hospital tank. So I’m the event I need to quarantine a fish, I want to know if the single medium sponge with the nano pump is enough. Thank you 🙏 Crystal
TheG2What
I put a medium size in my planted 29 gallon. I think that will be the right size. I can't speak to the nano pump as I've never used one. I would imagine it will work for that setup though.
Crystal_Marie
Thank you! I thought I saw a video where Cory said how many gallons the nano pump can handle but I don’t remember which one. I’ll keep looking ☺️
Emma
I concur, I've had my 29 gallon running on a medium sponge filter and a nano air pump for over a year and it's doing great. I do have a small hang on back as well, but that's mostly for the water flow and sound. The sponge definitely seems to be doing most of the work. 2
lefty o
as long as you dont over stock, i think it would be fine, especially with leaving the other filter running in there most of the time.
