Fiddlersgreen19 Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 Hey everybody, Sad day for me but a change in living arrangements are forcing me to part with my rainbow fish and corydoras. I don’t have and won’t get social media but any resources in the greater Seattle area forums or shops that might help in this process would be greatly appreciated. Multiple bosemani, praecox, sunset dwarf and yellow rainbow fish all from imperial tropical all healthy and happy and acquired around march and april 2018. 2
colo3000 Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 Your best option would probably be an LFS. You might want to search your nearby fish stores and give them a call. Some give store credit, but I'd expect most to take them off your hands for free. 1
KittenFishMom Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 The fish stores are apt to have cycled tanks and know what kind of space and care your fish need. It might be less stressful for you and the fish to have a knowledgeable fish store person get them all at the same time, rather than trying to set up times for many people to come to your fish to look, but decide they don't want them after all. It sounds like you are in a situation that is already stressful enough. I hope things improve quickly. 1
Fiddlersgreen19 Posted February 3, 2022 Author Posted February 3, 2022 Kind of in a wasteland fish store wise midway pets is the real only non chain fish store and I’ve seen bad things from them in the past. Just love these fish and put so much time into them just want them safe. Thanks for your responses! 1
Fiddlersgreen19 Posted February 3, 2022 Author Posted February 3, 2022 I’ll drive them up to you cory 😂
xXInkedPhoenixX Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 Hi, I'm sorry you have to do this, how sad. Do you have a veterinarian? Most don't see fish but if you have other pets, my vet for my cats has a board you can post on. Maybe Midway Pets has a contact with a fish club that they can refer you to or give your information to. You can try Craigslist but I'm not the biggest fan of that- however you can ask prospective takers what their experience is and I know there are people who look for used aquariums all the time who are major fish people. Some animal shelters too may have referals for you. 1
Odd Duck Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 Do you have a local aquarium association or club that might help? Even if you aren’t crazy about your lfs, they should know about any local groups/associations and how to contact them.
Fiddlersgreen19 Posted February 3, 2022 Author Posted February 3, 2022 I’m close to the greater Seattle aquarium society never became a member but did see Gary Lange a few years back at the annual auction. Don’t know how active the community is honestly and won’t commit to Facebook kind of screwed myself in that aspect.
xXInkedPhoenixX Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 Don't give up on that as a possibillity though. 🙂 1
Odd Duck Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 I’m not in that area, but my impression from others that are in the area is the association is pretty active. Reach out, see what you can find. I’d bet you can find somebody to help that would predicate your beautiful fish. 1
Fiddlersgreen19 Posted February 3, 2022 Author Posted February 3, 2022 I’ll look into the gsas going to miss them. 1
813aquatics Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 I know you are against social media but if desperate fbook is *always* loaded with active hobbyists eager to take in fish to rehome. LFS are very hit or miss when it comes to taking in oddball fish. You can always have a family or friend who uses facebook post on your behalf. 1
