Native Keeper
Hi everyone! A while back I collected the plants shown here. Could never identify them. Anybody know the species name? Thx in advance! Edited February 2, 2022 by HydraSlayer

Seattle_Aquarist
Hi @HydraSlayer It might help if we knew where you collected the species. There are many native and invasive plants species in Europe, U.S. Asia, South America, Central America, etc. It is ikely a Rotala or Ludwigia species, it might be easier to identify if it grows out a little more. -Roy
Native Keeper
@Seattle_Aquarist, It was collected in Southern Missouri, USA.

LOL HydraSlayer, I grew up in St. Louis and my brother lives outside Springfield...small world! Ludwigia palustris is native to Missouri and that could easily be the species you have found based upon the leaf shape and the leaves emerging in pairs on opposite sides of the stem. See how it does as it grows out and you should be able to verify the identity. -Roy

Native Keeper
@Seattle_Aquarist, the species you gave me is similar, but I don't think it's the same, though I will have to let these specimens grow before I say anything, so I will keep this in mind, thank you. I live in Western New York, and earlier this year I collected a plant that I believe is Ludwigia Palustris from a drainage ditch on my grandparents property. Hi @a tired fish keeper L. palustris is native to the east coast but has spread and is found in a fairly large range; here in the U.S,, Canada, and overseas.
