Dward sag and easy carbon

I have a tank with a bunch of multi shell dwellers, that I also have a good amount of dwarf sag growing in. The tank has started getting a lot of hair algae growing as well. If I dose the tank with some easy carbon to try to kill off the algae, will it also affect the dwarf sag? I know that val plants will die off from the easy carbon, but not sure about the sag.

You could pull out one of the sag plants and put it in a container to test on just that plant and see what happens. If I’ it doesn’t negatively affect the sag then you could use it in the main aquarium.

It will 100% hit the Dwarf Sag. Maybe dosing on the lower side might be okay, but normal dosing nuked mine. It did recover eventually.

Agreed. I killed a whole ten gallon full of nicely grown dwarf sag in an attempt to kill algae with an easy carbon lookalike product. The active ingredient is the same, so I wouldn't chance it...

I would recommend spinning out the hair algae with chopsticks. It won’t hurt anything. I don’t keep your fish, but maybe you can find something hungry and compatible.

I reduced window light with blackout curtains, and added SAEs.
