Daniel Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 Has your aquarium settled down? Are the plants growing and the fish happy? Share photos of your seasoned tank. 3
Ken Burke Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 Love it. Hank and Mable hangin’ in the Amazon Sword, Java Moss from Aquarium Co-Op getting shaggy. Spot the Pleco chillin’ under a leaf while Betty the Pleco hangs on the front glass. 2

Daniel Posted October 10, 2020 Author Posted October 10, 2020 Just now, Ken Burke said: Nice apisto. Is that a Borellii? It does kind of look like A. borelli. It is a A. nijsseni male enjoying sneaking around and through the hair grass.
Daniel Posted October 10, 2020 Author Posted October 10, 2020 I just took this photo. Because of the foreshortening it looks like he is a little more than 2" measured by the ruler, but in reality it right at 3". I moved him in to this tank (with a female) a couple a days ago to see I there might be interest in spawning. That tank is the opposite of a seasoned aquarium. I take a 10 gallon aquarium and add hornwort, water from a seasoned tank and add a pair of breeders and whoosh, insta-tank. I think the hornwort deals with any nitrogen issues. Usually there is no filter or airstone. If I add a heater, I will add and airstone. 2
Mitch_ScruffyCityAquatics Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 My 75 gallon has been running since May, but 1/3 of the substrate and most of the plants came from my 25 gallon that had been running for about two years. 8
David Ellsworth Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 Here is my 30 gallon that I started in maybe June of this year? It is my longest running tank with guppies, amano shrimp, and cherry shrimp. I really need to trim my guppy grass it is taking over bad. 1
RovingGinger Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 This is a kinda happy accident tank that’s turned into a fun messy place for my sparkling gouramis and (temporarily) kribensis. The sparkling gouramis are nearing full size and the kribensis are a little over an inch long. They move very similarly and have somewhat similar shapes and stripes so they make an interesting blend, each with its own level of aquarium turf. 3

Spewing_nonsense_ Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 Just took this picture, this aquariums been up and running for a year and a half, altho granted I just recently rescaped it and also the white clouds have done a number on the microfauna population lol 6
shkote Posted November 21, 2020 Posted November 21, 2020 My most seasoned tank is difficult to see into. I let algae and biofilm cover everything and don't clean the glass, I rarely water change, I do top offs, throw food in every now and then, and thin out the shrimp and Hornwort when it starts getting too cramped. This tank is packed with Hornwort and I'm convinced that (in addition to being very seasoned) is why the neglect works. It is by no means a pretty display tank, but they don't seem to mind.
Daniel Posted November 21, 2020 Author Posted November 21, 2020 You get questions like, 'Can I put my guppy in a quarantine tank with no filter'? I think you can. Here is an aquarium with swordtails, guppies, shrimp, sparkling gouramis and I not sure what else. I have never had a filter or an airstone (or a heater) in this aquarium. My only complaint is recently the water has begun to clear a little bit. Which is a shame as it was my go to green water tank for quite a while. 2
Ken Dyer Posted November 21, 2020 Posted November 21, 2020 This tank has been unchanged for about 5 years now (I change tanks around too much). Since the Kerri never seem to stop spawning their tank gets left alone minus trimming the dwarf sag 😁 3
