Thee Dapper Dad
Good morning group. I have a question? I would like to keep a pair of apistogrammas and a pair of German rams in my 32 gallon Fluval flex. Is that possible? If not, can I keep two pair of Apistogrammas? JettsPapa
I haven't kept either, but I've seen long time successful German blue ram breeders say that it's difficult to get them to thrive at temperatures below about 82° F. I suspect that's too warm for apistos.
Levi_Aquatics
I would think it would probably be best to do one or the other.
TheBlueBeetle
Yeah, I would say pick one or the other due to the varying optimal water temps if you want them to thrive. Good luck!
Patrick_G
You could try Bolivian Rams with the Apistogramma. I was curious so I looked up the temperature range for Apistogramma, and sure enough there is some overlap with the range for German Blue Rams. Preyhunter
I think the Bolivian Ram (also South American) suggestion is a good one and you have me considering a few Apistogramma when I stock my tank. The Bolivians are supposedly hardier than GBR, but those GBR are some beautiful fish. If I wasn't just getting back into the hobby I'd be tempted to go GBR. Rams are supposedly pretty peaceful, I guess it would depend on the Apistogramma.
