Can not find"turnips" with the search box

I searched for "turnip" but got zero results. I decided this was the place to ask.

I was tidying up the kitchen after my husband made soup and found a sprouting turnip under some paper towels.  It little yellow leave were crying out for light, and I thought "why not?".  I set it in the top of one of my small HOB waterfall filters and it is as happy as a clam. The deep green leaves, purple top and white bottom add a splash of unique color to the filter row. Much more fun than the lucky bamboo. It has put out a ton or roots that I hope will gobble up nitrogen in the water.

Is there anything about turnips that might be bad for fish?

I might try carrots next 8-)   <<- I wear glasses

I know that Foo the Flowerhorn did a whole series of videos featuring Sweet Potatoes as nitrate reducers for a Betta tank.

i dont know if a turnip can put anything bad into tank water, but deer sure love them purple top turnips.

@Fish Folk I tried hanging sweet potatoes in baskets under the HOB waterfalls, but they both rotted. I need to check this out!  Thanks! 

@lefty o I think everyone loves them, except my father. He would say "There is something wrong with this soup" when Mom would try to sneak them in.

(Random memory) I seem to recall some of my 🇨🇦 friends insisted on serving up Turnips for their Thanksgiving dinner.
