Colu
It sound like a water quality problems probably high levels of ammonia what are your water parameters with a 3 gallon tank will be very hard to keep good parameters for a goldfish and a glow fish with out daily water changes Edited December 16, 2021 by Colu
Camryn Lawrence
Like Colu said, you probably have high ammonia levels. I'd recommend trying to upgrade your tank soon (It doesn't have to be 40 gallons, 10 should be fine) because having a goldfish and glow fish in a 3 gallon tank could result in problems with your water parameters (Like it is starting to). But until then try and do daily water changes and make sure to be checking your water often (with water test strips like these: https://www.aquariumcoop.com/products/aquarium-co-op-ammonia-test-strips?_pos=4&_psq=test&_ss=e&_v=1.0). Good luck!
GardenStateGoldfish
Red streaks in the tail usually means nitrite for goldfish, black tips on the fins usually means ammonia, black poop is likely from the food your feeding, red gills can be the water quality but it also appears your goldfish may have a curled gil plate, tough to tell in the photo, can you see his gills normally just looking at him directly from the side? (Not behind) that can be genetic or from very high nitrate/nitrite/ammonia it can cause the gil plate to deform and it is permanent but your fish can still live a completely normal life, it also could have just been born that way and had it happen in the fry stage. I would certainly recommend against the heater as well, not good for goldfish. And I would recommend just doing a few 50% water changes, maybe one a day for three days and see if there is improvement.
