@nabokovfan87its like the fish was posing for you!

I think my fish know I don't have a good macro camera lens situation. I took 6-7 shots with my phone and yeah, that fish was just hanging out in the current. This little panda on the top of a piece of wood that is essentially a 4-5" diameter stump.  Very charming little corydora.

Hear ye hear ye!! I call the cory loving people of the forum to our quiet corner of this webspace! I’ve not kept pandas in awhile but Ive had this group of Venezuelans from Tom at TM Aquatics for 2 years. They’ve been growing and just gorgeous with that lovely orange and bronze and grey. IMG_1316.jpeg.6f4216d59877d12516e168492e96bd78.jpeg

Almost an eques but cheaper!! Anyway they’ve been through allot with the latest being an over eager house sitter feeding extra to the “hungry” fishes above the amounts in the pill minder I had setup. Now they’re back to their chunky awesome selves and somehow someway they’ve bred!

I’m amazed absolutely amazed!! There’s about a half a dozen of these babies in there and I’m just so grateful! Have fun everyone!

Beautiful Corydoras.

I just re-homed the last of my pandas at the end of march.  It's sad to see them go, but they hopefully are doing well.  There's two members here who have parts of the panda horde and they are already spawning like nuts for them! 😂

Here's my focus right now:

How are the concolors doing @Cinnebuns!?

I moved them into the 20 high, I still haven't located a 20 long, but now they are in the living room at least. This means I should move some of the mystery snails out of there to lighten the bioload but I kinda needed to do that anyway.

One issue I kinda knew I had but got a closer look at while moving them is I may have almost all females. There's really only 1 that looked male to me. That might be a major reason they aren't spawning. I knew before I was heavy on females but I didn't think it was that bad. It kinda has me 2nd guessing I'm actually sexing them right. With my pandas I've learned to sex them easy and I assume it should be pretty much the same for the concolors but what are the chances of a group of 8 being all female? Or even just 1 male?  Idk. I'm confusing myself.

Most of my groups tend to start female heavy too.  Once you get a spawn you'll have less worry and added females for genetics variation.

Well the problem is that cories do best in a reverse trio of 2m to every female. Unlike other species, females have the power in cories.

Oh I will add @nabokovfan87 that I do believe this suggested ratio is more for breeding purposes and not in now their hierarchy functions. I'm pretty sure it just means more infertile eggs and not necessarily an issue within the colony like can happen with other species.

Yeah... it's not optimal, just have to start somewhere!  You'll get fry soon, especially with them in the new location and all the adjustments.  I'll be excited to see them do their thing.  It's really cool that you have them 🙂 .

@Cinnebunspost some pics so we can help sex them and also see these beauties!!

Also 20 long or high. Don’t think they’ll care.

I pulled them out to get better pictures. I numbered them for easier discussion. I realized the scale of their size is a little deceptive in some of the pictures but for reference, they are all roughly the same size except for number 4 who is noticeably smaller. That's one reason I suspect it as the only male.

@nabokovfan87

Looking closer at the pictures, 7 also lays more flat on the surface than the others. The picture of that one is a little deceptive of size. The pic makes it look smaller than 8 but they are the same size.

It's hard to see without photos from the top (to see fin shape), but I'm pretty certain you have more than one male.

I’d say 2 males might have 3. #4 and 7 most likely males. I’d put them and your chunkiest female in a tank, feed them some wormies for 2-3 days, do a water change and then watch the eggs drop.

That reminds me of something I used to do often with my pandas but have been lacking with the concolors. I haven't done many cold water changes at all. I used to do that 2-3x a week when I was first getting my pandas going yet I've probably deliberately done it outside of a regular water change maybe 1-2 times since I got them in Feb. Maybe I should do it regularly about 2x a week to get them jump started. Sometimes you forget the things you did in the early stages while you were first learning lol

I’d not planned to purchase any fish but my wife felt the 60 gallon needed more action. She’d had trouble with the rainbows, danios, loaches and puffer - it was just too “aggressive” and then the whole tank died. We’ve had Pygmy Corys before and she’d loved them so we decided to go for a big group of 20 Pygmy corys. IMG_1470.jpeg.8849650dbb3fa0ffcc2619dd2fcf522f.jpegIMG_1467.jpeg.46b0d66e6b8dc8d8b51a4ca3fe1047b8.jpeg

I just adore them and live that my fishwife wanted them.

Have fun everyone!!
