They are a little freaked but here's the video after pulling them

"Whale tail" pandas are just too much.  You take the awesomeness of the panda and their personality and they just look like little Orcas when they grow up 😂

Love it. So cool that you have some!

Haha funny you say that!  Earlier in this thread I mentioned how they are basically reverse orcas!  I can't not see it anymore. I have free willy in my tank!

So funny story, I not just have them but obsessively pulls eggs and breed. That's not the funny story tho...

When I first started this hobby I decided, like many people, to start by breeding guppies. I got myself what I thought was 1m 2f turned out 1f was a male so rehomed it and had 1m 1f.  He didn't harass her too much so I just let it be. EVERY month she would get pregnant, go into labor, and abort. Now some of this may have been contributed by some of my noob mistakes but I honestly believe she didn't wanna have kids and since have heard similar stories from people who are doing it right.

So, I got the guppies and started trying to breed them 2 months before I ever got a single cory. My first cories were 6 of them, 2 female long fin and 4 mixed gender standard fin. I was still trying to breed those guppies when I noticed a random cory fry in my tank!  Weeks later I realized it was 2!  2 months later, with new females, I had my first guppy fry. So I unknowingly got cory fry before guppies somehow by a pretty wide margin. I've never liked to be predictable.

I haven’t had much to report in terms of corys until recently. It took me awhile to recover from the loss of my breeding group of pandas 🐼. I have been very attentive to the needs of my Orange Venezuelans and waiting for a couple orders to come through.

I decided that I would wait to get another group of pandas 🐼. I just couldn’t go through with the purchase. I kind of have a little post panda syndrome- should I do the same thing again or should I do it differently?

I’d communicated with the breeder who I’d gotten the Orange Venezuelans and he had some really cool fish - Barbatus and Duplicareus corys. @Coryhad always reported that the barbatus were some of his favorites and it appealed to me to be able to house them in a room temperature setup. In the midst of setting the delivery up for these fish another opportunity presented itself. Super Schwartzi coryadoras became available as well. Had I found my calling? Am I a catfish guy now?

I talked with my wife whose only request was they needed to be cute like the pandas. So our first shipment was the Super Schwartzi CW028s and they came In rough. Some of you who follow my journal know this but other Cory fans may not. DE8A4871-2CC2-4964-BFAD-F819025029DC.jpeg.0f11b0efdbaee6821d7bbabe0a83c282.jpeg43853E6B-C6B0-423E-BC20-6024D080D873.jpeg.39397b3de38d8a22a32a5d619d0d1461.jpeg

This was not in the best interest of the animals. Good news is they are doing great now and thriving!

Here they are a day later

The second is them this weekend. It’s obvious from looking at that giant barb on the dorsal that this is the source of the punctured bags.

I’ve got my Orange Venezuelans in my 45 gallon which was just set up. They are acting like Pygmy corys riding the flow and having a ball.

It’s hard to see the new Corys in my newly green water tank but I have a little footage.

Also got some Barbatus corys (scleromastyx barbatus) from the same seller. They’ll be in a “cool water” tank long term for shiners in the fishroom. FECA8024-0AA7-4FA8-ADE7-E6DA29F6269F.jpeg.a11e506defeaa0438902a40cf1004dbc.jpeg0A2679C4-5328-4F47-885E-08C13126A6A3.jpeg.43dbf22805160793dcba351610e52f79.jpeg
I’m excited to get them settled in. Unfortunately this 60 breeder - brand new - is leaking so I’ll have to tear it apart and get a new one.

Have fun Cory lovers! As @Guppysnailalways says try something new so far it’s been rewarding and a learning experience!

Well we can’t let this thread die! Bump bump bump!!!!

Orange Venezuelans, love the depth of the colors I am getting! 75AB49C7-0FD5-4143-BADC-79953BF70E57.jpeg.127501f4228b2f98351f8a109d9a49a6.jpeg

But they are shy. Sometimes I debate whether I should increase their numbers. Thoughts? 10 in a 45 presently? 15?20?

The Super Schwartzi are well awesome! I’m going to start digging into the breeding reports on Planet Catfish. This group continues to look better and better. More proteins they scream every time I pass by!

Have fun everyone!

Are they for the office tank?

nah, they're down in the 36 gallon tank. The office tank is just the pygmys and the stowaway.

@flyingcowthey look great. I am inching closer to getting a group of them again but then I see other corys like these E0896226-D9DB-476E-BD92-1B5B7A313D65.jpeg.b804da44e344eddf5f06e1384baf2115.jpeg

And I say man wouldn’t those be nice? Slippery slope!

What are these beautiful beasts?

Picked up some new corys.

These are the Morse code Cory CW 032 Coryadoras Knaacki. I’ve seen them get the full gold metallic sheen but as they’re new I think the more silver is stress. They are eating great and no issues this far with the Krobia.

In my green water tank I have C134 the eyeliner Cory. They have taken up shop in the middle of the tank so I only get looks from a distance or through my pleco tower. Here’s a video that really gives a sense of their color.

The Super Schwartzi are eating well and looking good. I think I’ll set up my 15 g to breed them in November. 4195D857-DCE1-4792-90BC-040301EEC5C5.jpeg.a8f67ffc0dbec6e28d7f507449584d73.jpegC24D9D85-1545-40ED-B9C0-9357CBC22C89.jpeg.dfb915907c7621a6742a13fd7c0db238.jpeg8FBC7BD2-3514-4AF3-9E1C-C1D3F4A22409.jpeg.dcb4e6c11970b14790d5e4c6c3cef2fb.jpeg

Orange Venezuelans are awesome. I’m a fan, poor man’s Coryadoras eques. I just added a power head to their tank so I’ll get some updated pics and videos. I’ve got some pics of my plecos but I’ll save those for my journal.

I wish I had gotten a video of this, but my phone and camera were both upstairs. So when I first got my Pandas, my Bolivian Ram tried to boss them around. Once he realized they couldn't possibly care less about him, he gave up and kind of took on a fatherly role. He'd follow them around and just watch them and make sure they were ok. This morning as they were happily snorfling on their sinking wafers, a couple of my Black Phantoms came over to try to get a piece of the action. My Ram IMMEDIATELY chased them off so the Pandas could snorfle in peace.

Don't worry, the Black Phantoms have their own damn food.

Wanted to drop some videos from the weekend of my #corygang!

The Knaacki have a lovely gold sheen when they’re happy and from their bellies things are coming along nicely!

these eyeliner corys have gone from the ghosts of my green water tank to gregarious and waiting at the glass for food.

My electric blue acara thought that I’d somehow gotten some food to the Supers but alas I was just getting some footage big fella!

I probably don’t take as much footage of this group as I should but they’re beautiful. Such a different body type from the others.
