AnsleyBleu
I am looking for a heater for my 300 gallon Rubbermaid container pond. Any recommendations? I recently threw my 100W aquarium heater in there for now, but know it will not likely do enough. I am in Los Angeles, but the temp is getting to 50 over night - too cold for all the platies that are in there. I won't be able to bring them in for the winter. Administrators Zenzo Posted December 13, 2021 Administrators Share Posted December 13, 2021 The easiest thing to do is to get a piece of twin wall polycarbonate or a corrugated vinyl roofing panel and make a lid. These panels are between $18 and $40 depending on which one you get. You can find them at most hardware stores that sell roofing material (Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.). Having a lid on your pond will make a huge difference in keeping the temps up, and with your heater, will probably be just fine for cold LA nights. I actually just put a couple of pieces over my deck pond for the cold California nights.
