Seeding new sponge filter

I have a 75g community tank that’s been up for about 8 months. I want to set up a new 20g tank to separate out the female guppy’s. If I put a new sponge filter in my 75g how long should I wait to use it in the new tank and have it seeded.

I've heard from a week to a month.  I split the difference at 2 weeks.  I did push it once at about a week and a half and didnt have an issue with guppies as well.  Also if you can, slowly stock up (dont throw them all in at once).

Then again, your doing guppies, they are a lot more tolerant...

Two weeks or so should be fine, but to speed up the cycle you can also take some water from your 75 and add that in the 20, along with some filter squeezings.
