Hi. I’m just beginning to build my tank. It’s a 29 gallon, and I hope to add tetras and shrimp. I bought the large sponge filter and the breza air pump, but the air pump is much louder than I anticipated. It’s going to be an issue when we have guests spend the night because the tank will be next to them. Can I either unplug the pump/filter for that night OR would the nano air pump be sufficient for the night?

 Thank you!

It would be best to keep air going to the tank. I would try the nano pump first, if you find it insufficient you can try one of the blue whisper pumps, they are a little louder than the nano.

You can try to isolate your pump from transferring vibration. Sometimes setting it on top of a folded up towel can greatly reduce the noise.

On my 40 gal cube I’m changing from a HOB to sponge filters due to not liking the water noise made by the HOB. I’m going to use a nano pump with 2 medium sponges, stacked. I was assured it would work. Setting it up tonight… time will tell.
