Kath1818 Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Hi. I’m just beginning to build my tank. It’s a 29 gallon, and I hope to add tetras and shrimp. I bought the large sponge filter and the breza air pump, but the air pump is much louder than I anticipated. It’s going to be an issue when we have guests spend the night because the tank will be next to them. Can I either unplug the pump/filter for that night OR would the nano air pump be sufficient for the night? Thank you!
StevesFishTanks Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 It would be best to keep air going to the tank. I would try the nano pump first, if you find it insufficient you can try one of the blue whisper pumps, they are a little louder than the nano. You can try to isolate your pump from transferring vibration. Sometimes setting it on top of a folded up towel can greatly reduce the noise.
LaurieinIA Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 On my 40 gal cube I’m changing from a HOB to sponge filters due to not liking the water noise made by the HOB. I’m going to use a nano pump with 2 medium sponges, stacked. I was assured it would work. Setting it up tonight… time will tell.
lefty o Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 the nano pump should more than handle the sponge filter, and they are quiet. i have 1 in my bedroom, and cant hear it run.
Guppysnail Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 I love my coop nano pumps. I’ve never had a quieter one. The ziss airstone make the coop sponges near silent
