Hard water stocking?

Hello friends,  

I have a 32 gallon mega flex, which I recently got planted. 
 

I am curious what you guys/gals would stock in this tank with pretty hard water (250-300 according to coop test strips). 
 

I really prefer large schools of big fish, but I’m VERY open to suggestions!

My lemon blue eye bristlenose plecos do well in the same water hardness you described. They spawn every 3 weeks like clockwork. My panda corydora do well also. My guppy girls reach 3 inches and love it. Almost any larger livebearer loves hard water. All my other inhabitants are small/nano. Mystery snails get large are fun and enjoy hard water though they are not fish.

To add to this,  fairly low buffer and PH around 7.0-7.2

livebearers do well in hard water if you are looking for a big group of fish. There may be some smaller rainbow fish that you could also choose.

I do think a group of dwarf rainbows would be cool!

I know others have said livebearers, and I'd specifically say swordtails.  I love my koi swords, and they get to a nice size.

My vote is for the BN pleco, panda corys, a livebearer (goodeids, platys, or swordtails), and amano shrimp/nerite snails.

If you did guppies for a livebearer, perhaps you could do half-beaks or Girardinus metallicus livebearers, as well, for some variety.

Since you said you'd like a group of bigger fish, I'd like to suggest pearl gouramis.  I have eight in a planted 40 gallon breeder tank and really like them.
