Macey
I am fairly new to fish keeping and recently got my first tank. I have a 30 gal planted tank and ridiculously hard water stocked with 6 dwarf Petricola catfish and a Bristlenose Pleco. I am wondering if I could add a few more fish, or if my tank might be at capacity? If you think I could comfortably fit a couple more in there, any suggestions? Beardedbillygoat1975
You could have a small group of fish in the mid to top water. I’d consider a barb, tetra or rasbora species. I’d consider a medium bodied type like cherry barbs, red eye tetras, or harlequin rasboras. A group of 5-7 should be fine. With the cats they’re pretty messy so keep up on your water changes. You’d be fully stocked. If you wanted to go African you could do yellow labs or acei cichlids I’d definitely over filter it if you choose those guys. Once again 5-7 but know that they’re pretty prolific in the right conditions. The Africans would appreciate the hard water.
PedroPete
Guppies or platys would enjoy the hard water, too, and could potentially produce sellable fry (hopefully you have a local market). On the other hand, I think cherry barbs would look really good with your current stocking!
