temp question

Im setting up a new tank in my room and im testing water temp without using a heater in the tank. It fluctuates from 76-79 with 76 being at night around 2 am or so. would this be ok? Intending on doing pea puffers in the tank

The typical heaters with bimetal thermostats fluctuate that much or more over the course of a few hours so I'd say thats fine, especially on a 24hr cycle.

That is not a big variation. As it occurs gradually and naturally it will be fine. In nature it rains warms and cools. Fish are made to tolerate it. Our pet fish have adapted to more stable environments so large quick swings they can’t handle but are still fine with small slow fluctuations.
