Took a slightly spooky trek through pines to flush it out… No photos of the owl, unfortunately. What you can't see in the picture is a small pile of grey feathers on the ground under my bird feeder. Looks like either a mourning dove or mockingbird met an untimely end. But like I said to my kids - a hawks gotta eat! The Edwin B. Forsyth National Wildlife Refuge is about an hour from where I live in NJ and is a great place to see migrating birds overwintering. KittenFishMom Posted January 21, 2022 Share Posted January 21, 2022 We think this is a young Copper hawk resting after a meal in the boxwood bushes we dragged home from the neighborhood compost heap to shelter the birds that come tp out bird feeders. About 3 or 4 foot from my recliner, through a panel in the patio door.
