Very nice thread, @Fish Folk.  Red-tailed Hawk outside my kitchen window a few weeks ago.  What you can't see in the picture is a small pile of grey feathers on the ground under my bird feeder.  Looks like either a mourning dove or mockingbird met an untimely end.  But like I said to my kids - a hawks gotta eat!

The Edwin B. Forsyth National Wildlife Refuge is about an hour from where I live in NJ and is a great place to see migrating birds overwintering.  My wife and I like to head down there at least once during the winter to check it out.

We think this is a young Copper hawk resting after a meal in the boxwood bushes we dragged home from the neighborhood compost heap to shelter the birds that come tp out bird feeders. About 3 or 4 foot from my recliner, through a panel in the patio door. My husband grabbed his camera and got a few angles, while the hawk warmed up out of the cold north wind.

Sure! It must be too much for the forum to upload, or it’s a file type it won’t allow. Are you using a computer or a phone?
