Thin wiry Java moss

Recommended Posts

For whatever reason, Java moss in my tank is looking thin and wiry with no real mass or bushiness to it. Nitrates steady at around 40ppm and pretty low light to cater to my kuhli loaches. Is it the low light that has it looking like this or is it simply too close to the light, being that it’s on the top part of my spider wood near the top of the water? Dose with Easy Iron, Easy Green, and occasionally potassium as well. Thanks!

I'm having the same issue. Moss that was once lush and full is now wirey, and it even feels that way when I go in to trim it. It's very odd. I was thinking of posting this myself when I decided to search it. I've noticed it in 2 of my tanks, one high tech, one low tech, both with excellent parameters and all other plants are growing lushly. It's definitely got me scratching my head too.
