Betta albimarginata cave spawner

Recommended Posts

I fed blackworms for the first time last week. My treat this morning was the Betta Albimarginata 'Malinau' deciding they were cave spawners in the calvus caves.VideoCapture_20211003-100945.jpg.15216977cc7bf2badce626c41fcf07db.jpg

I stack the caves on their sides for use in the panda loach project. I did not really expect them to be cave spawners but they seem to prefer it in my set up. Bottom cave spawning albimarginata transferring eggs, top of caves panda loach being panda loach.  Has anyone noticed the albimarginata cave spawning in their set ups?20211003_100730_1.gif.c71f9dc8de8ffea0e3a60d0d872a5740.gif

Oh, that is cool!

I have never heard of cave spawning bettas, but it does not sound too unprecedented.  There are other cave spawning anabantoides after all, like some of the parosphromenus (licorice gouramis).

Make sure to keep us posted!

Many species of wild bettas have more subtle colouration. Of course, there are still some impressively colourful wild types. What a cool group of fish, right?!

That’s so cool! What a great find. Haven’t heard of this before but I’m very interested to see how it goes.
