mountaintoppufferkeeper
I fed blackworms for the first time last week. My treat this morning was the Betta Albimarginata 'Malinau' deciding they were cave spawners in the calvus caves. I stack the caves on their sides for use in the panda loach project. I did not really expect them to be cave spawners but they seem to prefer it in my set up. Bottom cave spawning albimarginata transferring eggs, top of caves panda loach being panda loach. Has anyone noticed the albimarginata cave spawning in their set ups? 8 1
Administrators Cory Posted October 4, 2021 Administrators Share Posted October 4, 2021 Interesting, I wouldn't have guessed that either. I always used lots of plants, but maybe I'll toss in a coconut or apisto cave for mine.
ApiApi
Oh, that is cool! I have never heard of cave spawning bettas, but it does not sound too unprecedented. There are other cave spawning anabantoides after all, like some of the parosphromenus (licorice gouramis). Make sure to keep us posted!

Of course, there are still some impressively colourful wild types. What a cool group of fish, right?!
