Brandon p
Ok so I had to go out of town for a few days. My 16 year old son was taking take of them. He has had fish for years but it was mostly basics. In his tank he has Escondido Carpinitis. Which as long as you feed the and keep them similar clean they reproduce. He did great with dont of my tanks and even had new albino bristle nose swimmer when I it back plus blue dragon info guppies. Only one problem I had a tank with 7 l-333 4 small wild and 3 large tank raised. They did ok I lost 1 of the small wild and none of that he large tank raised. The problem was the 12 really nice Sterbai cories that were ready to breed and time soon. 5 survived. Here was his reason why. He noticed that the mystery snails layer eggs and watched a YouTube video that said cover the tank in plastic wrap. Which probably would have worked. But he unplugged a smaller than needed hob that I use just for some flow and not really filter. I also have a big sponge filter in that tank and a second tank that sit back to back. My mistake is I did not have everything the same. The ones tin the tank that lost fish had a ziss never clog so it looked like more fine bubbles. The other tank had a regular air stone. He thought that it was wrong and basically turned the ziss stone off and opened the other so it looked like a volcano. Good news none of the dime size platinum angelfish seems injured and none dead. I know I’m going to continue with the l-333 suppliers and the wild caught has two left from the batch, I know I only lost one be I my not be able to to get any move and if they stay this white I’ll be happy be I think they may yellow. The 3 tank rasied are white and black I do have 1 female 2 males. The breeder thinks he can send 3 more females but it may be two just because of price. Now the big question is the 5-6 Sterbai that are left enough to start breed at a good rate, or should I get 6 more. If this had no happened I want to try my hand at the black corys, but no one I k ow has them. Second was Adolfoi cory skunk or panda cories lots of things he tell me what you think
Guppysnail
I have never kept sterbai but I have pandas. I store purchased 5 and ordered 6 more. The store purchased 5 spawned twice while waiting on the others. Once I added the others they have not spawned since. I’m not trying to breed them so did not research why. Just wanted to share my small group of 5 did spawn so perhaps wait and see if they spawn. If not then add more.
anewbie
I have a bunch of sterbai; they lay eggs every couple of weeks; 5 sterbai is plenty for a breeding group if you have a couple of females and some males. They are hearty in the right condition and love to breed. Of course over time i would add some new blood to mix up the genetics. Brandon p
@anewbie. @Guppysnailthank you I found on more alive today so I feel better. I the community tank which should have been long past reproduction layer. Probably is there are three species in that tank. Aeneus. Both bronze and albino, Orange lasers, and panda. I have had groups of all them in other tanks and some died of age so there Partners got moved to the community think so there are pairs of different ones. The aeneus are all 12-13 years old and have always been their. The last two of four orange lasers are in there and one panda. They looked good and moved well so maybe some mutts. Never saw them lay.
