Thanks in advance I know that hot glue is aquarium safe, or maybe you could use aquarium safe silicone, but I’m not super sure I’ve just done some research on bonding substances for fish tanks. DaveO
I use super glue gel for plants so I assume it should work on pipe.
Ken
The whole world uses PVC glue for water pipes for people. 2
StevesFishTanks
I would think once dry the solvent/cement would be fine. with the low pressures of aquarium plumbing it may not be necessary to glue the pieces that would be in the tank. Just glue the fittings that would leak outside of the tank.
Administrators Cory Posted October 1, 2021 Administrators Share Posted October 1, 2021 I personally have never had a problem. However letting it fully cure would be best. I've used many different types of pvc cement. All had the same outcome, no problems.

Really? I thought you weren’t supposed to use hot glue (?). On 9/30/2021 at 7:35 PM, Cory said: I personally have never had a problem. However letting it fully cure would be best. I really appreciate the help. If you can smell it, it's not cured. When you can't smell it, I always gave it one more day. Most cans have directions based on humidity levels and temperature. I used my nose🤷♂️
ARMYVET
When I was doing my fish room ...I could use the drains immediately because well...their drains. On anything carrying water into the fish I waited 48 hours. Maybe excessive but I am on the BSTS train....Better Safe Than Sorry. Now if it was for drinking water for my mother in Law...that's a whole different story!🙄 1
Andy's Fish Den
Any PVC cement that is safe to use on potable water will be ok for fish. Just make sure that it is cured, which basically menas as long as you cant smell the cement smell you're good to go.
Chuck13
The original intake-spray bar project has turned into a MUCH bigger project. I’ve been using Oatey PVC cement, PVC primer, ABS cement, and Transition cement for (ABS>PVC). Oatey says all their cements and primers can be used with potable water. So I think I’m good with those (?). I’m thinking of spray painting it. Any suggestions for spray paint brands that I could use? I really appreciate all of the help. 🙂

Krylon Fusion is the one everyone uses (I think I saw it in a CoOp video too). 1
