CalmedByFish
I think I heard that seed shrimp will compete with neocaridina in a species-only tank, making it harder for shrimplets to survive. I can't seem to find info now. Anyone know?
Administrators Zenzo Posted September 22, 2021 Administrators Share Posted September 22, 2021 I am assuming that the concern would be seed shrimp and baby shrimp competing for the same food? I think if the tank is balanced, it shouldn't be too much of an issue (unless your goal is to breed and sell a lot of shrimp, in which case you probably don't want any competition for food). Overall my understanding is that they can be beneficial and a good part of the cleanup crew (even disposing of dead shrimp).

Tihshho
I have tons of them in shrimp only (no fish) setups and have not noticed an issue. I never see them going after prepared foods, but mainly just grazing on wilting leaves, algae and food that isn't being touched by the Neocardinia. Once you have a large enough Neo population a seed shrimp getting closed to pellet food is a challenge in itself.
