Joshua Harding
Hi All, I am looking to improve my plant growth and think my lighting may be too weak. The tank is 110 gallons. Planted with many varieties of plants from low to medium light, none of the high variety. I am running CO2. I am using a Finnex Ray 2 and plants are doing ok, all but the Vallisneria.. other carpeting plants are doing what they are supposed to. Ammania Gracillis is struggling and repens has died. This is leading me to believe the spectrum is off or intensity. My question is about doubling up the light, adding another light, or removing this one and getting a completely new fixture. From what I have read, the spectrum of light may be a cause of concern for the Ray 2. Would adding a Fluval 3.0 or Beamswork Evo Quad do any good? MickS77
I think Cory uses Fluval 3.0s on the 800 gallon which is over 28 inches deep. I also have a 110 planted tank and I would consider Fluval 3.0s to replace the fixture I'm currently using. I'm using an 8x54w T5 fixture with Giesemann Tropic and Flora bulbs. Andy's Fish Den
I have a 93 cube tank which is right around 26" deep I believe, I run one of the Fluval 2.0 on it and a 30" finnex stingray. My plants grow good, I don't have anything needing high light, a couple sword plants, crypts, anubias, bacopa. I also use the coop's root tabs and easy green in the tank. Joshua Harding
Thank you for the recommendations. I ended up getting the 3.0 and am running it around 70% in addition to the ray 2. Vallisneria took off like crazy!
