devind0446
I was feeding my tank and my Betta ate a way-too-big piece of not-yet saturated algae wafer and I think he is choking on it. His mouth is open and he is breathing heavy. What do I do? Can I help him? Will he be Okay? I'm super nervous. Please Help!

Craziiininja
Is the betta breathing normal now or still having a hard time?
devind0446
Update: he took a gulp of air and his mouth is not as open any more. I think his gills are moving slower now. I'll keep this updated for a little bit.

devind0446
Hopefully my last update: I think he's good. For a while he was spitting up bits of food out of his mouth and gills. I was pulling out the pieces as he spit them up so he wouldn't try to eat them again. I think once it softened up in the water he was able to get it unlodged from wherever it was stuck. He looks good now as far as I can tell. I have a quarantine tank and meds ready incase there are any secondary infections from a scratch on his gills or something.

And great to prepare ahead of time!
