Is this Pothos and…

Is this pothos? I am a rookie to put it lightly when it comes to aquarium plants, and even less educated on house plants. I think it’s pothos every thing I’ve searched tells me it is.C188F1E9-5BD8-4B44-A76B-881443BBB61A.jpeg.7fff5a1949ac6f29680ec0044a226700.jpeg6A3589BA-F87E-45E4-B1A1-3AEC42ACD1D7.jpeg.a25f81e2f27784cdbdb1f25bab589d2c.jpeg89F8ED34-3FA8-4118-AA44-9D00EB762F8D.jpeg.f0ef6b8d1afff52e7b63abf898e15a34.jpeg7576D354-F1F5-4545-9094-0C6ACAA60536.jpeg.180b668d7289066f7dfffb08a4c09c0a.jpegit’s in the tank now 3 maybe 4 days. Seems to be sprouting new roots, but the stems at the base are turning brownish all were light to a darker green when planted.

I have removed the browning leaves after I took the pic. They were already browning before put in.

is this normal melt back? I don’t know to really call it that, it looks healthy enough to me but the color change at the base stem is what I’m concerned with?

I only have golden pothos in the house but they don't have those lobes on the leaves where they meet the stem. Check out pictures of philodendron and see if that looks like what you have. That's my guess.

About the melting roots, I have observed that on my pothos plants. I don't start them from cuttings I just buy potted pothos and clean the roots before submerging them. They seem to go through a bit of a conversion process. Some roots melt, some don't. Some roots just pick up right where they left off and almost immediately branch out with new growth. My experience has been that submerging terrestrial roots ends up producing a large and healthy root mass much more quickly than starting from a cutting.

Sorry I missed this. Yes it is normal to melt lower stems just like Aqua plants grown emerged. I wipe away the melt and usually do it in a container in the window until it’s gone. Pothos is toxic but it is a crystal form that the fish would actually have to chew off the roots to ingest any of it that’s why it’s safe to use. I’m not sure how that transfers when the melt occurs that’s why I let it melt and start a decent amount of white growth prior to putting in aquariums but Cory shows vids of just sticking it in so I’m sure it’s safe to do

This is what I did , cleaned the roots as much as possible and dunked it in. Wait and see I guess. Thanks
