PineSong
She recommended using plastic storage boxes as QT tanks because they are inexpensive so you can have a lot of them on hand, but even more so because the fact that they aren't transparent makes it less likely that you'll turn the QT tank into yet another permanent tank... Too late for me, but in case it can save someone else from MTS, I thought I'd share! 4
Fonske
Nah, it doesn't work, I tried. Cheap, convenient, easy to move, translucent...good enough for a permanent setup. 😐 1
Guppysnail
I got that advice on here. I got 2 one worked fine the other a different brand almost killed fish?…but works great as a permanent plant grow 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 3
Atitagain
Well I don’t like bare bottom tanks so I’ll just put a little gravel, if I put a fish in there they will need a cave or some kind of hide, definitely need a background looks silly without one, maybe just one plant an Anubis so it’s easy to move, I’ll keep 3-4 tetras in there so it stays cycled and I can easily move them… yes totes are a good idea. 1
Tihshho
The thing I don't like about non tank QTs is the inability to see in to monitor the status of what you're QING. If I can't see in from the side, then it means I have to catch and stress stuff, no thanks lol.

ALl of that reasoning sounded like it came out of my mouth the entire way!!!
GameCzar
We use a clear storage tote for our guppy fry grow out tank, so far it works great and its easy to do water changes. I cut a small hole in the lid and mounted a very small LED light bar on it.
H.K.Luterman
Yeah that's why I keep my QT as ugly as possible - it's a clear, plastic storage bin with just the bare minimum for equipment. It's worked so far at not becoming an actual tank... but that still didn't stop me from just putting actual tanks in other places in the house. 😉 1
sudofish
Yea I thought about going that route and honestly should have. My QT tank turned in to a betta tank lol.
