Desktop Aquatics
I have been looking all over locally and online trying to find 15 gal tanks and 30 gal breeders? These seem to be extremely uncommon recently which is a problem as for planning my new rack these were the 2 style of tanks that would fit my footprint perfectly. If anyone has any idea of where to locate these or would it be easier to call my local stores and see if they can order them in specifically for me?? I won't need them for a 6 months but just when planning and locating these kind of things finding them is half the battle.
Tihshho
Right now things in general are harder to find due to supply chain issues. Big stores used to have warehouse overflow of tanks and hardware, but due to everything going on their outgoing product might not be able to keep up with back stock and available wholesale inventory. 15 gallon tanks are great! I love the floor print and the height, I'm after some of these as well and am running into issues. What I've found is that talking to my LFS (non chain) I'd be able to get them as a special order. Talk to the mom and pop shops because if you order a handful of these you would be helping them out by filling up order space/freight. Keep in mind tanks might be going up in price or are not going to be listed for the prices they once were, it's been a while since I looked at tank prices so I'm not sure if they have jumped much. As for the 30 breeder, those are much more rare. I'm not even sure who manufacturers them anymore. Look at some of the big tank manufacturers websites to see if they are available so you can get their SKU to provide to the LFS to find in their wholesale listings. Another route is to go custom. There used to be a company who used to offer all tanks (new and old sizes) that were custom built with or without frames. Prices were drastically higher though. Thing was they were known for 'half' tank sizes and those were neat. By half tank, they would take any tank on the market and have prebuild tanks that were half the height, so you could get half 10's, half 20's, half 20 longs, half 55's, half 40B, etc etc. Issue is the prices on them were more than the standard big box store prices of the full on tanks, but to some the dimensions were worth shilling out the significant extra. That or they had purchased in bulk and got pallets of them delivered.
Desktop Aquatics
Thanks @Tihshho! Price isn't a huge concern, but those custom companies would be a last resort they are soooo much more expensive than other tanks is what I've seen. Not trying to pay $150 for a 15 gal lmao when I'm trying to order like 10 of those. The breeders I knew would be way harder to source than the 15's but I got 6 months before I'd really need them and wanted to get everything put together. Tihshho
Oh yeah, some of those tanks, like the half 40B's were like $375 so I don't know what a 'custom' standard 30B would be going for since it should be the same floor print, just a different height as a 40B. The last time I saw, and bought, a 15 gallon it was when All Glass Aquariums was still the big company making tanks. I could be wrong, but I thought they were acquired by another company like Aqueon. StevesFishTanks
Petco stocks the aqueon 15g but its usually around $40 and never included in the dollar per gallon or 50% off sale
