Planted Oscar tank

I have a 125g tank with a pair of 4in oscars and was looking for some ideas of what types of plants I could put in with them

You could try pothos and let the roots grow into the tank. It makes a crazy fun root forest.

Anubis or Java fern in a planter

or heavily rooted like vallisneria still in a planter 

but all these should be well established, big even at 4” they will try to move them. Which will uproot or damage leaves or stems. I put guppy grass with mine I zip tie it together to keep mess to a minimum, knowing he will eat it I just replace every couple weeks

You're going to need to go with something that they can't tear up and a species that fish generally don't eat. IMO some wood with Anubias is the best option. Javafern is another good option, but I've had large cichlids tear into without eating it.

Use egg crate it works great in place of the plastic strip on glass lids

Such a great idea. And I have 2 pothos I’ve been thinking how to do something with. I’ll use one in my Oscar tank and one with my African cichlids
