JerseyBundy
Just wondering if this is something I need to worry about. My Bristlenose for the past few weeks has developed white patches. Theres no fuzz on the patches, water parameters are great. Gravel vacuum once a week. Shes still eating and active.
Tihshho
Is there a cave this female has been forcing her way into? She might have rubbed the surface of her body a bit. Being that there isn't any red showing infection and no filaments of fungus I'm also thinking that this could be some of the odd coloration you see within BN. If she's not pushing into caves to cause damage, this might just be her coloration.
CJs Aquatics
I’m by no means an expert but I was very concerned when my male and female BN exhibited the same symptoms quite some time ago. It appeared in there case to be almost a stress induced camouflage behavior. I monitored it for quite some time and researched it thoroughly, and am by no means making any guarantees, but it never turned out to be anything to worry about in my case, the male still does it from time to time when he’s I guess what the equivalent of aggravated would be for a fish… proper water parameters, limited overcrowding, and plenty of hiding spots I think your BN will be fine… in summary… I don’t think it’s anything to worry about…
MollyMomma
I have a female black BN in one of my tanks, we purchased her when she was barely 1 inch & have had her for 1.5 years now. When she was younger, she would camouflage herself a lot, it was quite funny to see, but at first was alarming, and I thought something was wrong. When I looked at your photo, that's what Initially thought was she was trying to blend in BUT down by her tail it looks like round white patches? Has it grown or changed at all? I'm currently battling something on a super red BN that started off as a white spot & turned into fungus. I would try & keep an eye on her & see if it grows or worsens.
