CorydorasEthan
I noticed a red spot on one of my pygmy cory's underside. It is acting normally, but I am concerned it might be a disease of some sort. I read somewhere that it's an infection, but don't know what to do about it. Any ideas? Thanks. Colu
It could.have had constipation and been struggling to pass anything and that why it's got inflammation of anus that what it looks like to me you could monitor for now or do a course of maracyn and see how he goes I would usually recommend salt treatment with pygmy Cory's being sensitive to salt I think maracyn is the way to Go I would make sure he's passing poop and eating ok @CorydorasEthan 1
Taco Playz
I have had that happen to one of my guppies I did a Fritz salt bath and he was fine in about two days but he wasn’t a Cory so I would go the route that @Colusaid and try Maracyn https://www.aquariumcoop.com/products/mardel-maracyn Edited August 29, 2021 by Taco Playz 1

Should I treat the whole tank? The only other tank that I have available for quarantine is a 5 gallon bucket. Also, if I do move him, will it stress him out? Colu
If you think you need to treat I would Qarantine him you can treat the hole tank if you think that better option and going to be less stressful on him
CorydorasEthan
I am unable to get Maracyn are there any other products that work the same?
RachelElizabeth
Any med with the active ingredient erythromycin (an antibiotic) could be substituted for Maracyn. I believe API sells Erythromycin. Might be able to get it through Petsmart.

Either way, I'll get the erythromycin.
Colu
Melafix isn't I very effective med I would treat with kanaplex or maracyn2 if you can't get maracyn

Unfortunately, the cory had already died by the time I made it home. Thanks for the help anyway. I'll be better prepared next time.
