ShreyanDev
Hey everyone! I need to know if I can keep betta and GloFish tetras together and if I can keep them together then how many GloFish tetras can be kept with a single male betta in a 20 gallon. It won't be longfin GloFish tetras it'll be the normal GloFish tetras
sudofish
Glofish tetras are black skirt tetras. The answer is maybe? The tetras can be fin nippers which bettas don't take kindly to. Also I'm not sure if any of the colors in the Glofish line would be particularly triggering. If I was going to try it I would go with a short fin betta like the plakat. For the Glofish I'd probably want the least bright, like the blue or purple. I could be wrong on the color thing possibly being a trigger, just trying to think safe. Of course lots of hiding places for the betta as well. 1
Ragnarok12
As many people always say, it will depend on the betta. Some of them are super chill with other fish, and others are determined to chase around anything that moves. Irene (Girl Talks Fish) has a lot of videos talking about it on YouTube. I have personally kept a male betta in a 29 gallon community tank with a ton of different kinds of fish (including larger bodied tetras like the GloFish tetras), and he just staked out his top corner of the tank and mostly hung out in that territory. I would say you would probably be okay trying out the setup you are describing. I would add 6-10 of the GloFish tetras, a betta of your choice, and then something to occupy the bottom of the tank. Maybe a small school of 5-6 corydoras or khuli loaches would be fun. Adding some floating plants to the tank would also probably make the betta feel more at ease. I don't have any opinions on the color aspect that Sudofish just mentioned, I haven't personally found the color to be a huge factor with tetras and bettas in my tank.
