Mixing macro and micro ferts from different manufacturers

Recommended Posts

Like to hear your opinion and experience in mixing two or mote fertilizers from different manufacturers.

I have Seachem flourish and Tropica specialised and I was thinking of mixing them up with following schedule.

Day 1 Tropica

Day 2 Flourish

Day 3 Tropica with iron

Day 4 Tropica

Day 5 water change

Medium light system with pressurized co2 . Mostly planted with some stone work. Planted 2 weeks back.

Glad to hear someone else is doing a similar thing 😅 is there a method to the madness or do you get good results even with random mixing?

I keep a daily record of drops added. I also add them only during mid way in the light schedule.

I use easy green, easy iron, seachem flourish, seachem trace and seachem potassium. I use varying amounts of each.

I keep a portion of each in a small bottle with a eye dropper in each.

How hard is your water? I have super hard water and a similar setup to you. I have been considering dosing trace elements.

No issue with mixing, as long as you keep track of what you are dosing and how much of it. Trace minerals in my experience are a good idea with most public water supplies, then again, check your local water values by getting the annual water quality report from your utility company. Also keep an eye on the length, and depending on the light, intensity of your photoperiod. Track the amount of CO2 if you are dosing CO2. Other things to consider: amount of plant mass, level of livestock density, and amount of feeding, and whether you are heavy on stem plants that feed primarily from the water column, or root feeders that need the addition of root tabs.

Out of the tap it is fairly soft. I keep a bag of crushed coral in my filter. After the coral on the API test it takes 6 drops on the gh and around 5 on kh. The coral bumped it a drop or so on each.

Isn't it good to have soft water for plants?
