Mjb24
My dad wants to set up an auto water change but we have chloramine in our water. Does he need to remove it if he is only doing %10 daily water changes daily, and if so what are some of the cheapest ways to remove it without using something like prime. Mmiller2001
Remove it yes, long term cheapest is probably a RO/DI system.

The only drawback is that you need to dose for the volume of the tank not just the replacement water. I think a filter might remove the chloramine without going full RO. skipper
I have absolutely no idea if this would work, but if anyone with more experience wants to chime in… Hippy me instantly thought of camping supplies 😂 https://www.walmart.com/ip/Hydro-Life-52700-Hydroponics-C-85-Inline-Water-Filter-with-Flexible-Hose-Protector/55635357?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=101003675

If fact he is so cheap all of fish are feeder goldfish because they were the right price. GardenStateGoldfish
@Colu do you have a link on that? Curious the price of having one of those on a hose would be cheaper then adding manual water conditioner

StevesFishTanks
I use several filters to break the chloramine up and remove chlorine and ammonia. I have an auto water change system that is controlled with a sprinkler timer and solenoid valves. The filter that does the bulk of the work is catalytic carbon and kdf85. I use the 20"x4.5" big blue type. https://amzn.to/2Ug5gWi https://amzn.to/3z5Otol Edited August 21, 2021 by s1_

What are the other filters in your system doing and will this keep the water hard? I use several filters to break the chloramine up and remove chlorine and ammonia.
