Greenlikeafox
Hey beautiful people! Anyone know what is going on with my snail? I'd say I noticed it a couple of days ago (depressed ridge in the shell) . This particular snail has spawned multiple offspring lately (so I don't think its a food issue). All the babies are still tiny but is this from them? I added an oyster shell to the tank for more calcium. Is this something I need to treat? Guppysnail
That happens when the growth plate is chipped. He is lucky if the damage is to extensive the shell in that area does not grow and exposes the snail. It looks thin growth but ok. Keep an eye you can see the divet in the edge. If it starts exposing him there are site describing methods to reenforce it for him but may need to be done several times through his life. Provide high calcium vegetables blanched to help him build it stronger on his own. Cute little one 😀
Odd Duck
@Greenlikeafox That looks like there was a minor injury to the mantle of the snail that caused a scar. It looks like it may be gradually improving, but will likely be there to some degree in future shell production, too. It doesn’t look like it’s enough to impact quality or duration of life.
