All rise for the honorable Notropis chrosomus…

Videos showing today. No idea why the first one didn’t show the other day.

There is just something so cool about seeing them at different ages but especially when fry are in that “dust speck with eyeballs” stage.  Love it!  😁

Recovered 11x leftover Rainbow Shiners from 50°-F mini pond this afternoon. Barefoot helper unphased by cold 🦶 🥶 😂

Here’s the back porch collection site…

Here’s the destination basement room inside…

What a nice little helper!

Mine took a dump in the hole I dug for a 40 gal rainbow shiner pond for absolutely no reason whatsoever! Now she's trying to chew a hole in my sock for the millionth time!

Many more in here than I originally thought. Plus, if eggs are hatching, it will be brimming!

I lifted the glass top up to feed the main tank (29 gal) and found a few shiver fry tucked up high among the Valisneria…

If the breeders don't go to the top & the fry have enough cover
to hide in wouldn't they survive till they got big enough ?

They’re just not good parents. They eat fry.

Here is how I prefer to raise up fry…

to raise more later on but thank you.

@Fish FolkI gotta thank you for your work on this topic. I've been following it for awhile and was able to implement some of the methods you learned through your own trial and error.

I didn't want to celebrate too early but I think now I can safely say my first spawn of shiners are looking great!
