BlueLineAquaticsSC Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 I have a 90g set up that I’m stocking and thinking of doing a Senegal bichir in. Could the Sen cohabitate with a large school of tiger barbs or will they just be tasty treats. Right now I just have 1 firemouth, 3 HRP, and 1 bristlenose
Biotope Biologist Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 I think the general rule with bichirs is 3" and up won't be eaten, but barbs are pretty good about not getting eaten regardless. Just make sure to get a large enough school so the fighting stays amongst them. They can be rambunctious, and do harm to generally timid species such as the bichir. Also what are HRP have not ran across that acronym yet?
Colu Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 I would go for something like silver dollar there's a.lot of nice species my favourite the tiger strip metynnis or the red hook myleus get about 5in when full grown 1
Beardedbillygoat1975 Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 @BlueLineAquaticsSCColumbian Tetras get nice and chunky and school really well, great colors blue and red, and size wise are good for that setup right around 3”. The other would be Congo tetras which females get to 2 3/4 males >3”. You also have some good barb options - filament and mascara barbs are incredible!

BlueLineAquaticsSC Posted August 3, 2021 Author Posted August 3, 2021 I do have my heart set on the tiger barbs, if there may be some compatibility problems with the Senegal, could a Ropefish hold up to the cichlids I mentioned
