Kingchris20 is correct, this is a Bluegill and this is a female, males have a deep orange, red, or copper colored throat, and they are very easy to breed. They'll fan out a nest in the gravel and they will eat their young at about the time the fry become free swimming.

I have another one that has some orange on its anal fin and orange eyes. Don’t have a pic of that one atm though.

Yes the bluegill is very closely related to the longear. Same genus

kinda hard getting this little one to stay still long enough for a photo shoot, but I managed this one to show off his orange eyes and anal fin 🙂
