FrozenFins
Hey all, I am looking into getting an RO/DI water filter for my aquariums. I am wondering if i need to mount it on the wall, or at all? Or can I just use it sitting on the countertop? Thanks!
Struggle
Mine isn’t mounted, I take mine outside and set it in a chair so that the waste water discharges into my plants or pool.
Mmiller2001
I had mine under the sink for a time. But after a while, convenience won out. I plummed it in the garage and hung it on the wall to save space.
Daniel
The RO (reverse osmosis) units stand up just fine on their own (at least the ones from Bulk Reef Supply that I and @Mmiller2001 have do). But the more thoughtfully you treat your plumbing and gear, typically the better experience you will have over the long run. That being said, I just slopped my in at first and went back and fixed it later. The install above got compliments from my wife on how nice it looked. Pleasing your significant other should never be underestimated!
Andy's Fish Den
You don't have to mount it to the wall or anything, but one thing you want to keep in mind, if you move it around, don't let the RO membrane dry out. Once it is wet, it needs to stay wet.
