JoshStover
A local enthusiast/breeder gave my kids half a dozen Dwarf Neons and one of the males is not like the others. Looks like his spine is a little crooked or something and he swims with his head a little higher than all the others. It doesn’t seem to effect him much. Still very active and a good eater. What causes this? Gene pool too shallow, some sort of deficiency?? Thanks! PS pardon the dirty water. We’d just feed the tank.
SanFranPsychoAquatics
It is just a genetic condition. Do not breed him, and do not hatch any eggs retrieved from this community tank :)
JoshStover
10/4. I didn’t plan on hatching any out of this tank but I do plan on setting up a breeding tank or two but I’ll get that stocked from another source. Thanks so much. This is my first go round with rainbows and I’m pretty green.
JoshStover
Is it caused by line breeding too long without bringing in new genetics?
SanFranPsychoAquatics
Come to the Rainbowfish Live group on Facebook and ask that question! The worlds most renowned Rainbow breeders and researchers are there.. Gary Lange, Peter Unmack etc. You can get some really good answers about things like this.
