Organizing the “fish wall”

Recommended Posts

Well a big step in my relationship with my wife and with my hobby has been reached - I e been given permission to create a “fish wall” in my garage. This is my overflow area and where I’ve had a hodgepodge of quarantine setups, growouts for fry, shrimps and plants. t’s looking a bit messy now but this is all part of a larger garage overhaul so excuse the mess. 2D18B8E9-C084-445A-8441-53A2FBD12EA2.jpeg.54003b36dcc47eede8a95b3dabe2f10a.jpegE51B6C73-7598-432F-93FC-83E36E51765D.jpeg.a845acc4f0e3453ff92d345434ca2312.jpeg

So I am now going to have one 77” wide rack to put everything on as well as an overflow area where I can keep my totes with all my aquarium stuff in.

I am looking for organizational advice. Most of my totes are similar so stackable. I have a coatrack I use for my towels and nets to dry.AF459DA9-4F70-4FD7-A988-5A78F0708023.jpeg.4779d930e62832cf4871e771618120b1.jpeg

I’m wondering about all my 5 gallon buckets and other stuff - do you have a hack you can share?
I appreciate all of you and hope y’all have an incredible weekend.

All my fish equipment fits in one rubbermaid container or under my tank at the moment.  But when I reorganized my garage I added 4 industrial shelves along one wall and an overhead hanging shelf (over the door) for seasonal items.  Basically nothing is on the floor but the lawn equipment on the other side with bikes hanging over them and of course our cars.

Buckets are awkward. When I built our fish tank stand, I made a cabinet specifically to hold the gallon buckets. I’d recommend making your lowest shelf high enough off the floor that the buckets can slide under it. Maybe even high enough that you can nest a few.

Excited to see how it all comes together!

Oh! Something else I just thought of. It might be really useful to have a small pegboard. You can hang tools, extra USB filters, etc. I would paint it with something to make it water resistant. I have a tiny pegboard on the lower shelf of my fish tank stand and it’s awesome!

When I upgraded my tanks to a metal shelf I got these super strong magnets and they hold my razor blades, tweezers, and all sorts of useful tools. I don't know if it would apply to you but you could drill out holes slip in a magnet and boom, easy hanger. For my buckets I just put it on the top shelf because I'm not tall enough to enjoy tanks up there.
