Adam W
I came home from vacation and found this on the lid of my 5G. I’m sure it’s Mystery snail eggs but the question I have is must I have a male and a female to hatch? I only have one mystery snail in this tank along with two nerite snails and 3 cherry shrimp. TIA. Odd Duck
Females are often bred by the time they are pea sized and can hold sperm for months. Most sources I found say up to 6 months, some sources say up to a year! They will also occasionally lay infertile eggs.
Guppysnail
In my experience larger clutches like that are usually fertile.

I hadn’t even thought about it that way since I’ve had small and large clutches be fertile or infertile. Right now I’m not letting any hatch, I’ve got too many babies already. But I’ll watch for that in future.
