AquaDude
Has anyone used the coarse filter pad inside a filter intake chamber to keep fry out of the filter? Are fry still able to get inside through the larger pores? Need a solution for a Fluval mega flex…I’ve seen some filter covers for them out there, but hear those reduce filter flow rates.
Fish Folk
I use coarse pre-intake sponges. Yes, flow rates do reduce as buildup occurs. I just squeeze them out weekly.
Guppysnail
Amazon sells med and fine intake sponges. You can also get 20-30-40 ppi cut to fit pads Edited July 17, 2021 by Guppysnail
CT_
my ACO sponge pre-filtered HOB is always full of shrimp, so I assume the tiny fry can still get through too. I wonder how many get chopped up in the impeller...
AquaDude
That intake corner chamber is the one in question. There’s another one on the other side.
